Three Decades of Growth

 

Seeing a need for quality market research and consulting in the Pittsburgh area, Al Schmidt and his wife Ruth started our company in 1986 after a successful career at Westinghouse. Over three decades, he grew Schmidt Consulting Services from just the two of them to 28 employees.

 

It was his attention to understanding our clients’ needs, customer service, and commitment to delivering “nuclear-grade quality” research that kept customers coming back and referring Schmidt to their peers and colleagues.

 

After nearly 30 years at the helm, and with Schmidt Consulting strongly positioned for the future (and a desire to spend more time with his grandkids), Al decided to transition out of the business to a consulting role and sold the company to Kevin Srigley in early 2014. Kevin then changed the company name from "Schmidt Consulting" to "Schmidt Market Research."

 

While much has changed, much has stayed the same. Kevin has retained Al’s strong commitment to his team members, to clearly understanding the business challenges facing our clients, to delivering extraordinary client service, and to executing market research that drives profitable growth for our clients.

 

We remain committed to impeccable service and quality. More recently at Schmidt, we have made significant investments in technology, training, and our people, now 38 team members strong. We have grown our qualitative business severalfold and considerably expanded our insight community management efforts, while maintaining a strong focus on our quantitative roots.
